Backup Administrator

We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Administrator specialized in Backup system (Veritas Net Backup). The role involves managing, maintaining, and optimizing our virtualized environments and storage systems to ensure high availability, performance, and security. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with a proactive and collaborative mindset to support business-critical IT operations and continuous infrastructure improvement.

Role & responsibilities

IT project:

- Participate in project studies by providing expertise and assistance to SAB and help to find the right expertise within Safran Digit

- Will ensure SAB transmission of SAB specifics infrastucture design and configuration to ensure support from the Digit storage team

- Being an active stakeholder in the migration from the Veaam to Veritas netbackup

Main Responsibilities:

- Maintain Veritas NetBackup environments (servers, clients, policies, storage units, media servers, etc.).

- Monitor and troubleshoot backup/restore jobs and resolve failures within defined SLAs.

- Perform installation, upgrades, and patch management for NetBackup components.

- Manage tape libraries, disk-based storage, and cloud-based backup targets.

- Implement and maintain backup policies, schedules, and retention strategies.

- Perform regular DR (Disaster Recovery) testing and documentation.

- Ensure data protection compliance and adherence to company and industry policies.

- Work with system, database, and application teams to ensure backup coverage and consistency.

- Analyze performance metrics and optimize backup operations.

Preferred candidate profile

Technical Skills:

- 3- years of hands-on experience with Veritas NetBackup (version 8.x or later).

- Proficiency in Windows, Linux, and/or Unix operating systems.

- Experience with backup devices such as tape libraries (Quantum, IBM, HP), VTLs, or cloud targets (AWS.).

- Strong knowledge of backup and recovery for databases (Oracle, SQL Server, VMware, etc.).

- Scripting knowledge (e.g., PowerShell, Shell, or Python) is a plus.

- Understanding of storage networking (SAN/NAS) concepts.

- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.

- Familiarity with Windows Server and Linux environments (RHEL/CentOS)

- Knowledge of Veaam backup solutions
