Job Title: Backend Laravel Software Developer USSD Department: Technology Reporting To: CTO Location: Uganda (Onsite) Contract Duration: 3 Months (Extendable / Possible Full-time) Position Summary We are seeking a skilled and experienced Backend Laravel Software Developer to join our growing team. You will be responsible for designing and developing scalable, secure backend systems and USSD-based services. The ideal candidate will have hands-on Laravel experience, a strong understanding of RESTful APIs, and a proven track record in mobile carrier integrations or USSD application development. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain robust backend systems using the Laravel framework Develop and support USSD-based services for mobile platforms Build and manage secure, high-performance RESTful APIs Collaborate with frontend developers, designers, and stakeholders to deliver seamless digital solutions Write clean, maintainable, well-documented code Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve issues across development and production environments Conduct peer code reviews and follow best practices in software development Optimize performance, scalability, and security of applications Required Skills & Qualifications Bachelors degree in Computer Science , Software Engineering , or a related field 3+ years of hands-on experience with Laravel PHP backend development Proven experience with USSD application development or mobile carrier integrations Strong expertise in RESTful API design and third-party integrations Deep understanding of MySQL , data modeling, and relational database architecture Proficient in Git and familiar with agile development methodologies Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, DigitalOcean) is a plus Strong debugging and problem-solving capabilities Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently in a remote setup
