Azure Hybrid Cloud Architect / Azure Stack HCI Specialist

Role Overview:

expert-level engineer or architect

Key Responsibilities:

1. Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) on Azure Local

• Deploy and manage

  AKS clusters

  in Azure Stack HCI environments.
• Integrate

  containerized workloads

  with

  Azure Arc

  for centralized management and governance.
• Monitor cluster health and performance using

  Azure Monitor

  and

  Azure Workbooks

  .
• Perform patching, scaling, and troubleshooting to ensure high availability and resilience.

2. Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) & Identity Integration

• Implement and maintain

  RBAC policies

  across Azure Local resources.
• Integrate

  on-premises Active Directory

  with

  Azure Entra ID (Azure AD)

  for unified identity and access management.
• Define and manage

  custom roles, user permissions,

  and

  least privilege access models.

• Enforce compliance and security alignment with the

  Azure Well-Architected Framework.

3. SQL Workloads on Azure Local

• Deploy and maintain

  SQL Server

  or

  Azure SQL Managed Instances

  on Azure Stack HCI.
• Manage lifecycle operations including

  updates, upgrades, backup, and recovery

  for hybrid SQL workloads.
• Optimize SQL performance through

  Azure Monitor

  ,

  Arc Data Services

  , and proactive capacity tuning.

4. Storage and Infrastructure Maintenance

• Administer and troubleshoot

  Storage Spaces Direct (S2D)

  clusters within Azure Stack HCI.
• Conduct

  health checks, performance tuning, capacity planning,

  and

  patch management

  .
• Configure and validate

  fault tolerance, replication,

  and

  disaster-recovery mechanisms.

5. System Updates & Lifecycle Management

• Apply

  Azure Stack HCI OS updates

  and

  cumulative rollups

  while maintaining uptime and system stability.
• Validate

  hardware and firmware compatibility

  , document rollback procedures, and ensure full test coverage prior to production rollout.
• Maintain

  version compliance

  across hardware, OS, and Azure components to meet supportability and security standards.

Technical Skills and Experience:

• 10+ years

  in systems development, network operations, or cloud infrastructure management.
• Proven expertise in

  Azure Stack HCI, Azure Arc, Azure Monitor, Azure Automation, Azure Backup,

  and

  Hyper-V

  .
• Deep understanding of

  Azure IAAS/PAAS

  ,

  Azure Storage

  ,

  SCVMM

  , and

  Windows Server Networking.

• Experience designing

  hybrid cloud architectures

  integrating on-prem infrastructure with Azure services.
• Strong grasp of

  Azure Well-Architected Framework

  and operational best practices.

Preferred Certifications:

• Microsoft Certified:

  Azure Solutions Architect Expert

• Microsoft Certified:

  Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate

• Microsoft Certified:

  Azure Stack HCI Specialty

• ITIL Foundation or equivalent process certification (preferred)
