Automotive Embedded Software Engineer

Role & responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to design, develop, and validate embedded software for next-generation smart switch modules, including steering wheel switches, power window switches, start/stop switches, and other HMI control systems.

The engineer will work closely with hardware, mechanical, system, and validation teams to deliver robust, feature-rich, and automotive-grade products.

Key Responsibilities:

1.

• Develop firmware for smart switch modules using C/C++ on 8-bit/16-bit/32-bit microcontrollers (ARM, Renesas, NXP, Microchip, etc.).
• Design software for features such as:
• Button debounce & detection
• Touch / capacitive sensing
• LED control & backlighting
• CAN/LIN communication
• Current sensing, diagnostics, and protection
• Implement state machines, real-time tasks, and low-level drivers.

2. Communication & Protocols

• Develop and integrate communication stacks (LIN, CAN, I2C, SPI, UART).
• Ensure compliance with OEM/LIN specifications for switch modules.
• Create diagnostic services (UDS / OEM-specific protocols).

3. System & Architecture

• Work with systems engineers to translate requirements into software architecture.
• Develop modular, reusable code and maintain software documentation.
• Perform FMEA input for software, and support DFMEA/Design reviews.

4. Testing & Validation

• Create unit test plans and support system-level validation.
• Debug hardware-software issues using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, debuggers.
• Support DV/PV testing, failure analysis, and corrective actions.

5. Product Development Lifecycle

• Work through all automotive APQP/NPI phases.
• Participate in code reviews, feature freeze decisions, and release management.
• Interface with suppliers and OEMs for requirement alignment and software delivery milestones.

Preferred candidate profile

• Bachelors degree in Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation, Computer Engineering, or similar.
• Strong programming skills in Embedded C/C++.
• Experience with AUTOSAR (optional) for high-end switch modules.
• Hands-on experience with microcontroller peripherals (GPIO, ADC, PWM, timers).
• Good knowledge of LIN / CAN protocols and tools (CANalyzer, CANoe, Vehicle Spy).
• Understanding of electrical hardware fundamentals (switch circuits, H-bridge, drivers, LEDs).
• Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and version control (Git/SVN).
• Ability to read schematics, work with hardware teams, and debug mixed HW/SW issues.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with capacitive touch sensing (CapSense / QTouch).
• Exposure to functional safety (ISO 26262) for ASIL-B components.
• Experience with HMI/illumination control, LED animations.
• Familiarity with DFMEA, 8D, problem-solving methodologies.
• Experience working with Tier-1/Tier-2 automotive suppliers
