Major Duties: - Functioning in various roles on audit engagements, such as leading audits, staffing audits, and providing consulting or oversight functions as required. - Keeping abreast of regulatory rules and industry changes. - Managing and executing special projects assigned. - Participating in meetings with business units to discuss audit results. - Communicating with partners at all levels, developing and presenting recommendations on operations and controls. - Ensuring proper audit controls are in place by utilizing an understanding of various Corporate units. - Evaluating corporate management, business processes, controls, and operating practices during audits and consulting/monitoring engagements. - Applying analytical skills to identify potential control weaknesses. - Developing a comprehensive understanding of the Northern Trust Audit Methodology and adhering to applicable Department Standards. - Compiling high-quality summaries of findings and recommendations in a concise and professional manner. Knowledge: - Understanding of auditing in the financial services industry and basic accounting principles. - Professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CISA, CIA, ACA, ACCA) and/or an MBA preferred. - Demonstrated technical abilities in relevant areas (e.g., accounting, regulatory compliance). - Analytical and organizational skills essential for conducting audits. - Strong report writing and workpaper documentation skills. Experience: - 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience. - Preferably a College or University degree with auditing and/or systems experience in a financial institution or similar public accounting experience in the financial services industry.
