We have been mandated by a large conglomerate into Iron & Steel business for the below mentioned role.

Position Name : Assistant Manager- DRI (Direct Reduced Iron ) - QC (Quality Control)

Location : Jamshedpur

Qualification : Diploma/ B .Tech-Metallurgy

Experience : 8 + Years

Job Purpose:

To ensure consistent quality of Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) production by monitoring, analyzing, and controlling raw materials, process parameters, and finished products. The role involves implementing metallurgical testing, ensuring compliance with standards, and driving improvements in quality systems within the DRI plant.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Quality Assurance & Control

• Conduct metallurgical and chemical analysis of raw materials (iron ore, pellets, coal) and finished DRI products.
  
• Monitor and control metallurgical parameters to ensure quality consistency of sponge iron.
  
• Maintain records of test results and ensure compliance with BIS/ISO standards and customer specifications.
  
• Identify variations and deviations, analyze root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
  

2. Process Monitoring & Improvement

• Collaborate with operations to optimize process parameters for better metallurgical recovery and reduced rejection rates.
  
• Ensure adherence to quality SOPs, inspection protocols, and testing methodologies.
  
• Drive initiatives for yield improvement, cost optimization, and reduction in process variability.
  

3. Laboratory & Testing

• Supervise and guide laboratory staff in sample collection, preparation, and testing.
  
• Ensure calibration, upkeep, and effective utilization of metallurgical and chemical testing equipment.
  
• Develop and implement advanced metallurgical testing methods for accuracy and reliability.
  

4. Documentation & Reporting

• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly quality reports for management.
  
• Support ISO, BIS, and other external audits with proper documentation and compliance records.
  
• Ensure proper documentation of metallurgical data, analysis reports, and corrective action plans.
  

5. Team Development & Coordination

• Train and mentor quality control team members in metallurgical testing and quality practices.
  
• Coordinate with operations, maintenance, and production teams to resolve quality-related issues.
  
• Act as a liaison between the plant and customers for addressing quality concerns.
