As an Instructional Assistant working under the direction and supervision of the Elementary Directors, your role is crucial in supervising and providing one-on-one instruction to students with mild disabilities. This position will serve as a stepping stone towards a teaching career, assisting individuals in starting their path to licensure and teaching. Key Responsibilities: - Provide supervision and instruction to students with special needs - Supervise special needs students during recess and lunch - Communicate consistently with the Elementary Directors regarding students - Teach Math, Reading, and Spelling groups based on student ability - Assist with tasks like running copies, grading homework, etc. to support homeroom teacher - Offer guidance and support to students in a positive manner - Assist in gathering and evaluating student data - Express concerns and opinions regarding student success and behavior - Attend parent-teacher conferences on a case-by-case basis - Assist or lead in teaching homeroom subjects like history, science, grammar, logic, etc. - Act as the homeroom teacher when needed - Work well under pressure and handle temper tantrums effectively - Assist with Carpool duties - Uphold the Character Development characteristics taught monthly - Perform any other duties as assigned Qualifications Required: - Energetic, enthusiastic, and committed to student success - No license required - Ability to work well in a teamwork environment and participate in a coaching model for teaching - Good classroom management skills In addition, you will interact positively with students, parents, staff, teachers, administration, and other school personnel. You will provide encouragement and enthusiasm in daily interactions, adhere to the school communication policy, and exhibit good character traits including honesty, positivity, diligence, and humility. It is expected that you adhere to the Time & Effort Certification (TEC). Benefits include Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance, 401(k), Health Savings Account, and Paid Time Off. The anticipated schedule for this role is MTWF 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, Th 8:00 am - 3:00 pm.
