Job Description

As a Safety Coordinator, your role involves fostering a culture of safety throughout the organization by promoting awareness, accountability, and participating in safety initiatives at all levels. Your key responsibilities include: - Coordinating and participating in project safety governance systems in various subcommittees to ensure effective functioning. - Identifying potential safety hazards, conducting risk assessments across all project activities, and participating in investigations into workplace accidents to prevent recurrence. - Ensuring compliance with legal obligations and applicable statutory requirements. - Preparation and submission of Safety Management Information System (MIS) on a monthly basis. - Supporting the execution of health and safety plans and method statements in the workplace according to legal guidelines and industrial best practices. - Organizing and conducting trainings for health and safety matters, accident prevention, and safety audits/reviews. - Developing strategies to mitigate risks identified during plant Fire/Safety inspections, Occupational Health, and Safety Audits. - Ensuring compliance and implementation of technical and administrative standards/procedures/guidelines. - Maintaining emergency response plans, organizing drills, and ensuring readiness for potential emergencies. - Organizing campaigns, competitions, contests, and activities to maintain the interest of workers in establishing and maintaining safe working conditions. - Purchasing and ensuring the availability of personal protective equipment and safety equipment required during maintenance and operation of large-scale thermal plants. - Reviewing Job Specific Safety Reviews of other departments and participating in Pre-Bid meetings/kick-off meetings for hiring new contractors. In addition to the responsibilities, you are expected to have the following behavioral and technical skills: Behavioural Skills: - Strong leadership and communication skills. - Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities. - Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Technical Skills: - Proficiency in risk assessment and management. - Thorough understanding of safety regulations and standards in the Power/Energy industry. - Experience in incident investigation and root cause analysis. Qualifications: - Education Qualification: B.Tech/BE in any discipline + Post diploma in industrial safety from a recognized institute. - Experience: 10-15 years of experience in thermal power/cement/steel plant projects with a demonstrated track record of implementing safety initiatives and protocols, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring regulatory compliance.,
