Assistant Professor - Fine Arts (Painting) - Mohali

An Assistant Professor of Fine Arts (Painting) teaches undergraduate courses, develops curriculum, and guides students in painting techniques, portfolio development, and conceptual thinking. Key duties include providing critiques, conducting lectures and demonstrations, maintaining studios, assessing student work, and engaging in scholarly research and publication. The role also involves student advising, administrative duties, and contributing to the academic community through committees and exhibitions. Core Responsibilities

• Teaching and Instruction: Deliver lectures, conduct demonstrations in various painting techniques (like watercolor, acrylics, and oil paints), and instruct students in color theory, composition, and aesthetics.
• Curriculum Development: Plan, develop, and implement Fine Arts curriculum, including updating course materials and creating new course proposals.
• Student Guidance: Provide constructive critiques, guide students in developing their creative and conceptual thinking, and coach them on portfolio development and professional presentation skills.
• Studio Management: Manage and oversee art studios, ensuring health and safety standards are met and art materials are maintained and organized.
• Assessment: Assign and grade art projects and exams, maintain student progress records, and organize student art exhibitions to display their work.

Scholarly & Professional Duties

• Research and Publication: Conduct scholarly research and publish articles or papers on painting, art history, pedagogy, and visual culture to contribute to the academic community and meet tenure requirements.
• Advising and Mentoring: Advise and coach students on their academic progress and career goals within the Fine Arts field.
• Service: Participate in department and university committees, attend faculty meetings, and contribute to the overall administration of the department and its programs.
• Professional Development: Pursue ongoing professional development to stay updated on current industry trends and academic excellence

Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Fine Arts/ Painting
• Demonstrated ability to teach effectively and conduct research.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• A portfolio of published research articles may be desirable.
