Roles & Responsibilities

API Process Development & Optimisation

• Lead development of intermediates and APIs, ensuring scalability, efficiency, and robustness.
  
• Design and execute experiments to optimize yields, reaction parameters, and purity profiles.
  
• Develop cost-effective and safe synthetic routes.
  
• Implement PAT to monitor and control critical process parameters.
  
• Troubleshoot process issues and drive corrective actions.
  
• Collaborate with manufacturing and analytical teams for smooth technology transfer.
  

Synthetic Route Design & Analysis

• Evaluate and select synthetic routes considering cost, safety, and sustainability.
  
• Conduct literature and patent searches to ensure non-infringing processes.
  
• Design experiments to test feasibility and efficiency of routes.
  
• Analyze reaction mechanisms and propose process improvements.
  
• Prepare process descriptions, flow diagrams, and present recommendations to the R&D team.
  

Analytical Data Interpretation & Impurity Profiling

• Interpret analytical data (HPLC, GC, NMR, LC-MS, IR, XRD) to confirm structure, purity, and impurity profiles.
  
• Develop and validate analytical methods for intermediates and APIs.
  
• Conduct impurity profiling and prepare regulatory-compliant reports.
  
• Collaborate with analytical teams to resolve issues and improve methods.
  

Cost-Effective & Sustainable Process Development

• Identify opportunities to reduce raw material costs and enhance efficiency.
  
• Apply green chemistry principles to minimize waste and environmental impact.
  
• Evaluate alternative solvents/reagents for safety and sustainability.
  
• Optimize processes to reduce energy consumption and waste generation.
  
• Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with safety/environmental regulations.
  

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain accurate laboratory notebooks and electronic records.
  
• Prepare technical reports, regulatory filings, and patent documentation.
  
• Present findings to R&D and management teams.
  
• Ensure compliance with data integrity and quality standards.
  
• Participate in internal and external audits.
  

Collaboration & Mentorship

• Work with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, analytical, regulatory) to ensure alignment.
  
• Mentor and guide junior scientists and research associates.
  
• Contribute to project planning and execution in team meetings.
  
• Stay updated with scientific literature and industry trends.
  
• Foster a collaborative and positive work environment.
