Assistant Manager - Quality

1. Job Purpose

To lead and manage quality assurance activities within the manufacturing plant by ensuring product compliance with customer specifications, national/international standards, and internal quality systems. Responsible for process control, supplier quality, in-process inspection, customer complaint resolution, and continual improvement initiatives.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Quality Planning & System Management

• Implement and maintain documents for IMS as per

  ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 /ISO 45001

• Prepare and maintain quality documents:

  Control Plans, FMEA, SOPs, Work Instructions, Manufacturing Quality Plans

  .
• Support internal and external audits (Customer, ISO, Regulatory).
• Drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and ensure timely closure.

B. Incoming, In-Process & Final Inspection

• Supervise and guide the inspection team for

  incoming raw materials, in-process components, and final product inspection

  .
• Ensure calibration support of all measuring instruments.
• Review and approve

  Inspection Reports, NCR reports, Final QA release

  .
• Monitor process parameters and ensure adherence to control limits.

C. Customer Quality Management

• Handle customer complaints conduct

  root cause analysis (RCA)

  using 8D, Why-Why, Fishbone, DOE tools.
• Participate in customer audits, provide clarifications, and implement action plans.
• Ensure timely submission of

  FAT / Type Test reports

  as required.
• Maintain communication with customers for quality-related issues.

D. Supplier Quality Assurance

• Evaluate and approve suppliers based on quality performance.
• Conduct supplier audits and drive improvements at vendor locations.
• Review supplier PPAP, inspection reports, and ensure compliance with specifications.
• Monitor supplier PPM, reduce rejection levels, and ensure incoming quality stability.

E. Process Improvement & Problem Solving

• Lead

  Kaizen, Six Sigma, Lean manufacturing

  , and other improvement initiatives.
• Identify recurring defects and implement permanent corrective actions.
• Improve first-pass yield, reduce scrap, rework, and production downtime.
• Drive mistake-proofing (Poka-Yoke) activities on shop floor.

F. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain updated quality records, inspection data, and audit reports.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly quality MIS reports (Rejection %, PPM, COPQ).
• Ensure all documents comply with document control procedures.

  : machining, fabrication, casting, assembly, molding (as applicable).

  engineering drawings, GD&T, BOM, Specifications

4. Qualification & Experience

• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical / Electrical / Production / Industrial Engineering

  (or Diploma with relevant experience).

• 79 years

  experience in a manufacturing QA/QC role.
• Experience handling

  customer audits, PPAP, CAPA, and QMS

  is essential.
• Knowledge of tools like

  SAP/ERP, Minitab, MS Office

  preferred.
