Job Purpose:

  • To ensure uninterrupted and cost-effective operation of all utility systems including electricity, water, steam, compressed air, HVAC, and waste management, while driving energy efficiency, compliance, and sustainability initiatives.

Utility Operations Management:

  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of boilers, chillers, compressors, HVAC, DG sets, and water treatment plants.
  • Ensure consistent supply of utilities (power, water, steam, air, gas) for production requirements.

Energy & Resource Management:

  • Monitor and optimize energy and water consumption.
  • Drive energy conservation and cost reduction projects.
  • Maintain records for energy audits and sustainability reporting.

Maintenance & Reliability:

  • Implement preventive and predictive maintenance schedules for utility equipment.
  • Ensure high equipment uptime and reduce unplanned breakdowns.

Compliance & Safety:

  • Ensure adherence to statutory requirements (pollution control, boiler regulations, emission norms).
  • Maintain all necessary licenses, permits, and documentation.
  • Implement workplace safety practices for utility staff.

Team Management & Training:

  • Lead and develop the utility maintenance team (technicians, engineers).
  • Conduct regular training on energy efficiency, safety, and best practices.

Budgeting & Reporting:

  • Prepare and control the utility budget (OPEX & CAPEX).
  • Submit periodic MIS reports on energy consumption, cost, and KPI performance.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of utility systems (boilers, HVAC, compressors, electrical).
  • Expertise in energy management and sustainability practices.
  • Leadership and team management skills.
  • Knowledge of statutory compliance and safety standards.
  • Analytical mindset with proficiency in data reporting and KPI monitoring.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education: B.E./B. Tech in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Experience: 8-12 years in utility management, preferably in manufacturing or process industries.
  • Certifications (preferred): Energy Manager/ Auditor (BEE), Boiler Operation Engineer License.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Energy consumption per unit of production.
  • Utility system uptime (%) and MTBF/MTTR.
  • Cost per unit of utility consumption.
  • Compliance score (zero penalties).
  • Execution of energy-saving projects.
