Assistant Manager

Job Title:

1. Job Purpose

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Assembly & Production Management

• Lead and supervise overall assembly and sub-assembly production activities.
• Ensure daily production targets are achieved with high quality and minimal rework.
• Plan resources, manpower, material availability, and coordinate with planning, stores, and quality departments.
• Monitor daily production output and address bottlenecks immediately.

B. Morning Meeting & Daily Coordination

• Conduct daily morning meetings with assembly operators, engineers, and cross-functional teams.
• Review previous day performance, defects, pending issues, and action plans.
• Assign daily goals and monitor completion.

C. Testing & Calibration Oversight

• Ensure timely machine testing and calibration for Anaesthesia Machines, Ventilators, SP/IP units, Defibrillators, and Monitors.
• Verify testing activities as per SOPs, safety norms, and regulatory standards.
• Support teams in resolving technical issues and performing advanced troubleshooting.
• Ensure proper documentation of calibration and test results.

D. Fixturing & Process Flow Improvement

• Develop and improve fixtures, jigs, and testing setups for assembly and sub-assembly lines.
• Work closely with R&D/Design teams to validate new fixtures and interfaces.
• Improve process flow through line balancing, bottleneck removal, and layout optimization.
• Implement and maintain standardized work procedures across all assembly lines.

E. Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement

• Drive 5S implementation, conduct audits, and ensure sustained compliance.
• Lead Kaizen initiatives to reduce defects, cycle time, and cost of poor quality.
• Introduce effective Poka-Yoke solutions to prevent recurring errors.
• Improve assembly efficiency, productivity, and first-pass yield.

F. Quality & Compliance

• Ensure adherence to ISO 13485, IEC standards, and internal quality policies.
• Conduct RCA for failures (internal or field) and implement corrective & preventive actions (CAPA).
• Ensure accurate documentation—production reports, test sheets, calibration data, and assembly checklists.

G. Team Leadership & Training

• Guide and mentor engineers, supervisors, and assembly operators.
• Conduct technical and process training sessions for new and existing team members.
• Establish a culture of discipline, accountability, and continuous improvement.

3. Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of medical device assembly—Anaesthesia Machines, Ventilators, SP/IP, Defibrillators, and Monitors.
• Expertise in production planning, assembly engineering, lean manufacturing, and process improvement.
• Hands-on knowledge of 5S, Kaizen, and Poka-Yoke.
• Ability to design and validate fixtures and jigs.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to analyze data and drive RCA/CAPA.
• Good understanding of ISO 13485 and regulatory requirements.
