Assistant Engineer

Core Responsibilities

1. Mechanical Maintenance & Troubleshooting

• Perform preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of mechanical equipment.
• Troubleshoot issues in Kiln, Raw Mill, Coal Mill, Cooler, Crusher, VRM, and Packing Plant machinery.
• Ensure timely repair of equipment such as conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, fans, compressors, and hydraulic systems.
• Assist in alignment, lubrication, welding/fabrication, and inspection activities.

2. Equipment Monitoring & Inspection

• Conduct routine inspections to monitor equipment health and performance.
• Identify abnormalities such as noise, vibration, overheating, leakage, or wear.
• Support condition monitoring activities (if implemented: vibration analysis, thermography, etc.).
• Ensure timely reporting of deviations and critical equipment issues.

3. Shutdown & Major Maintenance Support

• Assist in planning and executing shutdown, overhauling, and major repair tasks.
• Coordinate manpower, contractors, and resources during shutdown activities.
• Ensure adherence to maintenance schedules and job completion timelines.

4. Documentation & Spare Management

• Maintain maintenance logs, checklists, breakdown reports, and history cards.
• Support spare parts planning by raising material requirements and updating stock usage.
• Ensure compliance with maintenance SOPs, safety procedures, and audit documentation.

5. Coordination & Follow-Up

• Work closely with production, electrical, instrumentation, and safety departments.
• Ensure timely communication of maintenance issues to superiors.
• Follow up with contractors and vendors for repair works, spare supply, and service visits.

Technical Skills Required

• Strong understanding of mechanical equipment in cement plants.
• Knowledge of shaft alignment, bearing replacement, lubrication, welding/fabrication.
• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, manuals, and engineering documents.
• Familiarity with hydraulic & pneumatic systems.
• Basic knowledge of condition monitoring techniques (preferred).

• Hands-on experience in maintenance of plant machinery and utilities.
