Job Description

Role Overview: As an Assistant to the Mens Buying Manager at Galeries Lafayette India, your role is crucial in maintaining a balanced merchandise assortment for the stores based on luxury market trends and consumer preferences. Your primary focus will be on collaborating with the Mens team to select and source a well-balanced assortment of men's fashion products that align with the store's luxury image and maximize full price sell-through. Key Responsibilities: - Assist the Mens team in selecting and sourcing merchandise assortment for GL stores, collaborating closely with the Buying Manager to develop a balanced assortment based on factors like style, size, color, and price range. - Conduct thorough global market research and trend analysis to identify emerging fashion trends and customer preferences, ensuring the assortment remains current and attractive. - Set assortment goals with the Buying Manager, making data-driven decisions to select brands and products that align with the store's luxury image and Indian market preferences. - Monitor assortment performance regularly, analyzing sales data and customer feedback to identify top-performing and underperforming items and categories. - Create buying plans, ordersheets, and manage order tracking to ensure on-time delivery, while also conducting in-season trade actions as needed. - Establish strong relationships with vendors/brands, monitor performance, and ensure consistent product availability that aligns with the store's luxury brand image. - Monitor inventory levels, analyze sales data for replenishments, implement inventory optimization strategies, and collaborate with the Planning Team for demand forecasting. - Analyze sales performance, collect customer feedback, and collaborate with the Buying Manager to refine sales forecasts and make assortment adjustments for better performance. - Assist in developing pricing strategies, monitor price elasticity, set promotional pricing, and conduct regular pricing benchmarking against competitors. - Stay updated on global and local fashion trends, conduct market research, analyze competitor offerings, and translate market insights into buying decisions. - Work closely with the Visual Merchandising team to ensure effective display of men's products, aligning with the store's visual merchandising guidelines and enhancing customer engagement. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams, share relevant information with vendors/suppliers, and align buying strategies with overall business objectives. Qualifications Required: - Bachelor's degree in Fashion Merchandising, Retail Management, or related field. - Prior experience in fashion retail, merchandising, or buying roles. - Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales data and market trends. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for vendor/brand relationships and internal team collaboration. - Knowledge of inventory management, pricing strategies, and visual merchandising principles. - Ability to adapt to fast-paced environments and make data-driven decisions for assortment planning.
