Assembly Technician

Job SummaryThe Chassis, Sub-Assembly & Engine Assembly Technician is responsible for assembling commercial vehicle chassis, sub-components, and engine systems as per standard operating procedures (SOP), ensuring accuracy, quality, and safe production output. Roles & ResponsibilitiesPerform chassis, sub-assembly, and engine assembly activities according to SOP, work instructions, and design specifications. Assemble mechanical components, torque critical fasteners, and ensure correct fitment of all parts. Verify components received from stores and ensure no shortages or damage before assembly. Use hand tools, pneumatic tools, torque tools, lifting aids, and equipment safely. Conduct basic quality checks after assembly, including torque, alignment, clearances, and leak tests. Communicate issues such as part non-conformities, tool defects, or process deviations to supervisors. Maintain 5S and a clean, organized work area at all times. Meet daily production targets and report progress, delays, and reworks. Follow company safety policies, PPE rules, and ensure zero safety violations. Assist in continuous improvement activities such as Kaizen, Poka-Yoke, and productivity enhancement. Skills & CompetenciesGood knowledge of commercial vehicle assembly processes (chassis, engine, axle, powertrain, suspension, etc.). Ability to read basic drawings, work instructions, and SOPs. Experience using torque tools, assembly fixtures, gauges, and measuring instruments. Awareness of safety and quality standards in manufacturing. Problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced production environment. Team player with good communication and attitude. QualificationsITI / Diploma in Mechanical, Automobile, Fitter, Diesel Mechanic or equivalent. 0–5 years experience in vehicle or automotive assembly (freshers can also be considered if required). Physical RequirementsAbility to stand for long hours and handle physical assembly activities. Comfortable working in shifts and production floor environment.
