Job Description

This position reports to the Director of Enterprise Application Support and is responsible for all systems and applications running on an AS400. The job will entail System Monitoring, OS Maintenance, Help Desk, End User Support, custom development of enhancements and break/fix patches, as well as administration of a Mapics ERP system.

Responsibilities:

  • Performing routine system checks, updates, patching, and maintenance to ensure system and application stability.
  • Diagnosing and resolving system errors and malfunctions.
  • Provide technical support to end users regarding AS400 applications and functionalities.
  • Performing and monitoring system backups and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Maintain user account base, permissions, and source code revision control to comply with SOX regulations.
  • Support for the Printers and Bar code scanning devices.
  • MacPac ERP system maintenance and help desk support.
  • Troubleshoot and debug SQL and RPG programs.
  • Support of end-user SQL queries and connections.
  • Maintain 3rd party integrations and connections with both internal and external sources.
  • Support and maintain all applications installed on the server.
  • Other projects and tasks as assigned by Rev I.T. Leadership.

Required Skills:

  • Expertise in IBM iSeries (AS/400) operating system and its command line interface.
  • Understanding of AS400 system architecture, hardware, and network components.
  • Knowledge of system management tools like iNavigator, iSeries Access, and system utilities.
  • Strong understanding of database management systems (DB2) used on AS400 platforms.
  • Experience with scripting languages (CL, RPG) for automation and job scheduling.
  • Experience with Structured Query Language (SQL).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with end users and other IT teams.

Basic knowledge of a manufacturing environment (Sales Orders, BOMs, Job Orders, Purchasing, MRP, Inventory Management, and Financials).

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to communicate telephonically and electronically with team members and customers.
  • Must be able to hear/understand/speak with team members at all levels within a diverse workforce.
  • Must be able to walk/climb to a variety of primary work locations, including the ability to travel by air/auto to remote sites.
  • Must be able to work in front of a personal computer for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift documents/work materials up to 50 pounds in weight.

Work Environment/Conditions:

  • Most of the work is conducted in an office set up connecting on network assist business users.
