Summary:As an Application Support Engineer, you will act as software detectives, providing a dynamic service that identifies and resolves issues within various components of critical business systems. Your typical day will involve collaborating with team members to troubleshoot problems, analyzing system performance, and ensuring that applications run smoothly to support business operations effectively. You will engage with users to understand their challenges and work towards implementing solutions that enhance system functionality and user experience.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Administration of enterprise-grade VDI solutions using Azure Virtual Desktop and VMware Horizon. Create scalable designs for host pools, session hosts, instant clone pools, RDS farms, and multi-session desktops. Develop and maintain architecture diagrams, standards, and technical documentation. Deploy and manage host pools, session hosts, workspaces, and remote app groups. Configure FSLogix profile containers using Azure Files, Azure NetApp Files, or SMB storage. Implement autoscaling, load balancing, and cost optimization strategies. Install, configure, and maintain Horizon infrastructure:Connection Servers, UAG, App Volumes, DEM, and Composer (legacy). Manage vSphere/ESXi clusters, vCenter, resource pools, and datastores. Support instant clone pools, RDSH farms, and desktop entitlements. Implement, manage, and troubleshoot FSLogix profiles and Office containers. Create and maintain VMware Dynamic Environment Manager (DEM) policies for personalization and folder redirection. Optimize logon performance and resolve profile corruption issues across platforms. Build, optimize, and maintain golden images for both cloud and on-prem environments. Utilize MSIX App Attach, App Volumes, and application layering for app delivery. Perform patching, version control, QA testing, and rollout processes for OS and application updates. Automate image deployment using PowerShell and DevOps pipelines (preferred). Integrate and support AVD with Azure AD/Entra ID, Conditional Access, MFA, and RBAC. Configure and manage Horizon Unified Access Gateways (UAG) for secure external access. Implement security baselines, OS hardening, and compliance requirements (CIS, NIST, internal policies). Collaborate with security teams on monitoring, audits, and incident response. Monitor health, performance, and usage using Azure Monitor / Log Analytics, VMware Horizon Console, vROps, vCenter and FSLogix logs Troubleshoot issues related to login delays, connection failures, profile load, protocol (Blast/PCoIP) issues, and application delivery. Optimize workload sizing, storage performance, GPU workloads, and network latency. Develop automation scripts using PowerShell for image updates, profile cleanup, and VDI maintenance tasks. Provide L2-L3 engineering support to operations and helpdesk teams. Conduct capacity planning for computing, storage, licensing, and scaling. Manage high-availability and DR for both AVD and Horizon environments.
Professional & Technical
Skills: 47+ years of hands-on experience with VDI technologies. Strong expertise with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), VMware Horizon (instant clones, RDSH, connection servers), FsLogix profile containers, VMware DEM, vSphere, ESXi and vCenter. Solid understanding of Azure networking, NSG rules, private endpoints, DNS, and VPN/ExpressRoute. Understanding in Active Directory, Group Policy, and Entra ID integration. Strong PowerShell scripting skills. Experience managing storage for VDI workloads (Azure Files, ANF, NAS, vSAN). Experience with App Volumes, MSIX App Attach, or application packaging. Knowledge of Intune/MECM for hybrid management. Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities. Excellent communication with cross-functional teams. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
Additional Information: The candidate should have minimum 3 years of experience in Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktop Administration. This position is based at our Bengaluru office. A 15 years full time education is required.
