About the Role

API Gateway Developer

Key Responsibilities

Develop and manage API gateway configurations using platforms like
Kong, Apigee, AWS API Gateway, or Azure API Management
.
Implement
API authentication, authorization, rate-limiting, throttling, caching
, and monitoring.
Work closely with backend and DevOps teams to ensure smooth API deployments and lifecycle management.
Design API proxies and transformations using OpenAPI/Swagger specifications.
Automate and manage API deployments via CI/CD pipelines.
Troubleshoot and resolve API performance and security issues.
Maintain documentation for API gateway configurations and policies.

Required Skills

Strong hands-on experience with at least one API Gateway platform (e.g.,
Kong, Apigee, AWS API Gateway, NGINX, Azure API Management
).
Proficiency in
RESTful API design
, OpenAPI specs, and API versioning.
Experience with
OAuth 2.0, JWT, API key
, and other security protocols.
Knowledge of
microservices architecture
, service mesh (e.g., Istio), and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
Familiarity with scripting languages like
Python, Bash, or Node.js
for automation.
Understanding of CI/CD workflows and tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.
