About the Role

API Advisory Consultant

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Advisory & Execution Planning

• Develop and present a

  strategic execution plan

  to improve the organizations API ecosystem and developer portal.
• Identify critical API consumer journeys that deliver business value and highlight challenges in existing solutions.
  
• Recommend enhancements for unified portal experience, improved analytics, stronger governance, and better capability alignment.
  
• Discover opportunities to evolve towards an

  event-driven and API-centric integration architecture

  .
• Provide insights based on

  industry benchmarks and best practices

  from similar organizations.

API Architecture & Capability Advisory

• Advise on access, visibility, security, and collaboration challenges across various API types (REST, GraphQL, Event APIs).
  
• Suggest improvements to the developer experience, observability, lifecycle governance, and consumption workflows.
  
• Present solution views for consolidating capabilities into a scalable external service consumer portal.
  

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with architecture, integration, platform, and engineering teams to validate feasibility of recommendations.
  
• Support change management, externalization strategy, and adoption planning for key stakeholders.
  

Technical Skills & Platforms

• API Management:

  IBM API Connect, Azure API Management, MuleSoft

• Event Streaming:

  Confluent Kafka, Azure Event Hub, Azure Event Grid

• Messaging:

  IBM MQ

• API Types:

  REST, GraphQL, Event APIs

• Security:

  OAuth, JWT, API access and visibility frameworks

• Observability & Analytics:

  API monitoring, performance metrics, usage analytics

• Developer Portal & UX:

  Experience optimizing unified API consumer portals

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Minimum

  7+ years of overall experience

  in API strategy, API management, integration platforms, or related advisory roles.
• Proven experience in

  API lifecycle management

  , integration modernization, and architecture advisory.
• Strong understanding of

  API governance, developer portals, event-driven architecture, and multi-API ecosystem management

  .
• Ability to provide

  market insights

  , benchmark comparisons, and strategic recommendations.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence technical and business stakeholders.
  
• Preference for

  immediate joiners or candidates available to join in December

  .
