Airport Ground Staff / Airport Customer Service Agent / Baggage Handler / Check-in Officer (depending on department)

Airport Duty Manager / Terminal Manager / Supervisor

Job Summary

Airport staff play a vital role in ensuring the smooth, safe, and efficient operation of airport services. They assist passengers during check-in, boarding, and departure processes, handle baggage, coordinate with airlines, and ensure compliance with airport security and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Passenger Handling

  • Greet passengers and provide assistance at check-in counters, boarding gates, and arrival halls.
  • Verify travel documents, issue boarding passes, and check baggage.
  • Assist passengers with special needs (elderly, disabled, or unaccompanied minors).
  • Provide flight information and address passenger inquiries courteously.

Ground Operations

  • Coordinate with airline and ground crew for smooth flight turnarounds.
  • Manage boarding and deplaning procedures efficiently.
  • Ensure aircraft loading, unloading, and baggage transfer are completed safely and on time.

Security & Safety

  • Comply with airport and airline safety regulations.
  • Conduct security checks for passengers, luggage, and cargo.
  • Report suspicious activity and adhere to emergency procedures.

Administrative Tasks

  • Maintain accurate passenger and flight data records.
  • Handle lost and found baggage claims.
  • Support daily operational reports and shift handovers.

Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Customer service orientation and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle high passenger volumes.
  • Teamwork, time management, and multitasking skills.
  • Basic computer literacy (check-in systems, reservation software).
  • Professional grooming and adherence to uniform standards.

Educational Qualifications

  • Minimum: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Diploma or degree in Aviation, Hospitality, or Tourism.
  • Language proficiency: English (mandatory); knowledge of other languages is an advantage.

Work Environment

  • Rotational shifts (morning, evening, night).
  • Standing and moving for extended periods.
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions (for outdoor roles).
