About the Role

AGM Import Operations

Key Responsibilities

Import Planning & Execution

  • Develop and implement import strategies aligned with production and project requirements.
  • Manage end-to-end import activities including shipment planning, booking, clearance, inland movement, and delivery to plant.
  • Coordinate with global suppliers, freight forwarders, shipping lines, and customs brokers for timely shipments.
  • Ensure compliance with

    DGFT, Customs, EXIM, and RBI regulations

    .

Port & Customs Operations

  • Handle operations across major ports of Eastern India (Haldia, Kolkata, Paradip, Vizag, etc.).
  • Oversee bulk cargo discharge, containerized cargo handling, and capital goods clearance.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with

    customs officials, port authorities, CHA, shipping lines, and logistic partners

    .
  • Troubleshoot port operational challenges and ensure timely cargo evacuation.

Cost & Contract Management

  • Negotiate with shipping lines and freight forwarders for competitive freight rates.
  • Monitor demurrage, detention, and port charges to minimize cost impact.
  • Drive cost optimization in freight, insurance, and clearance activities.
  • Handle LC, bank documentation, insurance claims, and payment coordination.

Team Management & Leadership

  • Lead and mentor a team managing import documentation, customs clearance, and logistics.
  • Coordinate closely with

    finance, commercial, supply chain, and production teams

    for seamless business operations.
  • Establish KPIs for team performance and process efficiency.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure timely preparation and verification of import documentation (Bill of Lading, Invoice, Packing List, COO, Insurance, etc.
  • Stay updated on customs regulations, EXIM policies, FTAs/PTAs, and HS codes.
  • Ensure adherence to corporate governance and statutory compliance requirements.

Desired Candidates

  • Strong knowledge of

    international trade, shipping, and customs clearance processes

  • Experience in handling

    bulk cargo, containerized shipments, and capital goods imports

  • Excellent relationships with shipping lines, CHA, customs, and port authorities.
  • Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP/Oracle) and MS Office.
  • Strong leadership and team management capability.

Qualifications

  • Graduate / Post Graduate in Commerce, Supply Chain, or International Business.
  • Diploma/Certification in EXIM Management preferred.
