Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize CNC programs for VMC machines with 4th axis capability using SolidCAM and related CAD/CAM software.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, models, and technical specifications for efficient program creation.
  • Set up, operate, and validate VMC machinery for both trial and production batches, ensuring machine and process safety compliance.
  • Generate complex tool paths and multi-sided machining strategies, considering rotary axis motion for intricate part geometries.
  • Select and configure cutting tools, fixtures, and workholding for optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve technical issues and improve machining processes.
  • Conduct in-process inspections and make necessary program modifications to maintain high standards of precision and quality.
  • Document all programming, setup parameters, and process improvements for repeatability and knowledge management.
  • Provide technical support and training to operators regarding multi-axis programming and machine best practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical field.
  • Significant experience in CNC/VMC programming with a strong focus on 4th axis machining.
  • Proficient with SolidCAM and related CAD/CAM platforms; thorough understanding of G-code, M-code, and CNC logic.
  • In-depth knowledge of rotary axis machining strategies and advanced tool path optimization.
  • Expertise in blueprint reading, GD&T, and technical drawing interpretation.
  • Strong problem-solving aptitude, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a high-precision manufacturing environment.

Preferred Experience

  • Multi-axis machining for industries such as automotive, aerospace, medical devices, mold and die, or general precision engineering.
  • Training or experience in continuous process improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing practices.
  • Familiarity with material properties and machining parameters for metals, alloys, and engineering plastics.
