Position Purpose

The L2 Windows System Engineer is responsible for the operation, maintenance and continuous improvement of physical and virtual Windows server environments that support ARVAL’s production and test platforms. Working closely with L2/L3 Production teams, the role ensures high availability, security compliance and optimal performance of the Windowsbased infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Server hardware

• Install, configure and maintain Dell/HP physical servers.
• Coordinate hardware incident resolution with OEM support (IBM/Dell/HP).

Windows OS

• Perform routine maintenance and optimisation (MCO) of physical and virtual Windows servers.
• Deploy, patch and monitor Windows instances in production and test environments.

Technical improvement

• Identify gaps, propose corrective actions and drive implementation of technical enhancements.

Vulnerability & Patch Management

• Execute vulnerability scans, apply security patches and produce regular compliance reports.

Virtualisation

• Create and manage HyperV/SCVMM virtual machines; ensure alignment with capacity planning.

Monitoring & Incident Management

• Monitor production services, troubleshoot alerts and participate in oncall rotation (7 days / 24 ).

Collaboration

• Work with development teams to enforce bestpractice configurations.
• Contribute to technical documentation, runbooks and SOPs.

Continuous Improvement

• Participate in rootcause analysis, develop workarounds and support knowledgetransfer activities.

Technical Competencies

Server hardware (Dell/HP)

Indepth knowledge of installation, configuration and lifecycle management.

Windows Server OS

Expertlevel administration (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, GPO, Failover Clustering).

HyperV / SCVMM

Proficient in virtual machine provisioning, resource balancing and troubleshooting.

SCCM

Mastery of OS deployment, software packaging and compliance baselines.

Security

Familiarity with vulnerability assessment tools, patch management processes and DLP concepts.

Education & Experience

Education

Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.

Experience

Minimum 5 years of handson experience managing Windows server environments (physical & virtual) in a production setting.

Certifications (optional but valuable)

• Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Administration
• VMware/HyperV certifications
• ITIL Foundation
