5. Academic Qualification: BE/B Tech in Electrical / M Tech / PG / Masters degree or an equivalent qualification in Energy Studies/Energy System Engineering / Renewable Energy / Solar Energy

6. Reporting to : Head of Department

7. Employment Type : Permanent / Full Time

8. Location : Navi Mumbai

Job Role

  • The role of the Wind Resource Assessment is crucial for ensuring that wind farm projects are technically sound and financially viable for lenders.
  • The Engineer is to ensure thorough due diligence of the projects with respect to technical parameters and physical plant installation at site has been carried out.
  • The Engineer is to assess adherence to SOPs, quality standards and regulations which are crucial for the long-term success, timely closure and sustainability of the project.
  • The individual to liaison with the developers / customer’s team to improve overall project management for timely completion and adherence to fund utilised on the project.
  • Report insights on the quality, progress and maintainability of the infrastructure being developed.
  • To work on various Lender’s Engineering and Owners Engineering project opportunities for utility-scale Wind farms / Hybrid power plants and storage systems (BESS).

Key Responsibilities

  1. Conduct thorough Wind Resource Assessment (WRA): This involves evaluating wind patterns and potential energy production at specific locations to determine site suitability.
  2. Analyze wind resource data: Analyze wind data (speed, direction) from sources like meteorological towers and remote sensing devices to determine the site's energy yield and ensure alignment with project goals.
  3. Develop wind farm layouts and optimize turbine configurations: Determine optimal turbine placement considering efficiency, environmental and regulatory constraints, and potential wake effects.
  4. Prepare and review Energy Yield Assessment (EYA) and other technical reports: This includes pre-feasibility studies, detailed project reports, and resource assessments.
  5. Verify turbine design life estimation via load calculations.
  6. Perform statistical modeling and analysis of wind resource and site characteristics.
  7. Micrositing, WTG selection, Flow Modeling. Determine the P50, P75, and P90 energy yield estimates, incorporating loss modeling and uncertainty analysis.
  8. Support project proposals and business development efforts by conducting WRAs and technical assessments.
  9. Liaison with developers, consultants, and other stakeholders: This is crucial for improving overall project management, ensuring timely completion, and adherence to project funds.
  10. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations (e.g., IS, IEC, IEEE, guidelines issued by CEA, CERC, MNRE).
  11. Conduct research and site visits as required.
  12. Maintain detailed documentation and prepare reports according to specifications.

Skills and Attributes

1. Knowledge on the Wind Industry and experience in managing Lenders Engineer projects.

2. Knowledge pertaining to open access regulations, net metering regulations and various state-specific policies.

3. Strong knowledge of electrical equipment, systems and evaluation infrastructure.

4. Possess strong analytical and technical skills.

5. Excellent command on written and verbal English communication and presentation skills.

6. Strong interpersonal skills in addition to solo performer as and when required. Self-disciplined and demonstrated capability to work in multiple projects as a team lead.

7. Comprehensively evaluates the project's final report learning, guiding the team to imbibing for future projects.

8. Expertise in MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), Proficiency in wind resource assessment software like WAsP, WindSim, Windographer, and potentially tools like PV Syst, SAM, Google Earth Pro, and Global Mapper.

9. Proven organizational, professional, time management and leadership skills.
