Job Description

As the Wellness In-Charge at BITS Pilani, you will play a crucial role in supporting the well-being and mental health of students on campus. Reporting to the Dean of the Student Welfare Division, you will reside on campus at BITS-Pilani/Goa/Hyderabad and be the primary point of contact for students in need of emotional or psychological support. Your responsibilities will include providing residential wellness support by being accessible to students for informal and urgent emotional assistance, establishing a presence in hostels and common areas, and supporting students outside of office hours in collaboration with the Wellness Officer. You will also interact with students facing distress, refer them to counseling professionals, and build relationships with diverse student groups to promote help-seeking behavior. Effective communication is key in this role, as you will be required to engage with students in their preferred regional languages, translate wellness materials when needed, and promote mental health in linguistically inclusive ways. You will work closely with campus psychologists and counselors to ensure continuity of care, support logistics for counseling sessions and wellness events, and participate in case review meetings to address emergent trends or concerns. Furthermore, you will assist in planning and executing wellness programs, workshops, and campaigns, coordinate with various campus stakeholders to ensure high participation, and maintain feedback systems to enhance program effectiveness. Documenting student interactions, referrals, and follow-ups, sharing reports with the Wellness Officer for strategic planning, and contributing to data collection for evaluation will also be part of your responsibilities. In times of emergencies or crises, you will provide preliminary support in mental health emergencies, collaborate with the counseling team and Wellness Officer during high-risk situations, and remain on-call on a scheduled basis as part of the crisis response protocol. Your fluency in English and at least two Indian languages, basic counseling and crisis-handling skills, as well as strong interpersonal, coordination, and facilitation abilities will be essential for success in this role. You should hold a Master's degree in Psychology (Clinical/Counseling) and have a minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in wellness, counseling, or student affairs, preferably in a residential or educational setting. Your warm, approachable, and empathetic demeanor, ability to build trust with students, high emotional intelligence, and commitment to mental health promotion and inclusion will be valuable assets in this position.,
