Welding Process Knowledge : Proficiency in welding processes suited for cryogenic applications, such as TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) , MIG (Metal Inert Gas) , Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) , and Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) . Familiarity with the challenges of welding materials at cryogenic temperatures is critical. Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS) : The ability to develop, review, and approve WPS for welding cryogenic pressure vessels, ensuring that processes meet both performance and safety standards. Pre- and Post-Weld Heat Treatment : Understanding of heat treatment processes (e.g., post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) ) to avoid brittle fractures and control the heat-affected zone (HAZ) in welds. Material and Joint Design : Knowledge of cryogenic pressure vessel design, joint geometry, and how these factors influence the welding process.
