Role Purpose

To operate Vertical Machining Centres (VMC) effectively, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and machine maintenance requirements are consistently met. The role supports smooth manufacturing operations and contributes to on-time delivery with minimal downtime.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and set up VMC machines as per production requirements.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, G-code, and process sheets.
• Conduct tool setting, offset adjustments, and in-process inspection.
• Ensure adherence to quality standards and report any deviations.
• Perform basic preventive maintenance and keep machine & workplace clean.
• Coordinate with supervisors and quality team for achieving daily targets.
• Maintain records of production output and downtime.
• Follow safety standards and company policies.

Education & Experience Requirements

Education:

ITI / Diploma in Mechanical, Machinist, Turner, Fitter, or related trade.

Experience:

25 years of hands-on experience in operating VMC machines.

Experience in tool setting, offset adjustment, and CNC programming (basic level preferred).

Exposure to precision engineering / heavy engineering manufacturing will be an advantage.

Skills & Competencies

1) Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

2) Knowledge of CNC controls (Fanuc, Siemens, or similar).

3) Good measurement skills using Vernier, Micrometer, Height Gauge, etc.

4) Strong sense of responsibility, attention to detail, and quality focus.

5) Team player with good communication skills.

6) Willingness to work in shifts.
