Job Description

Zetford Manufacturing is hiring a VMC Machine Programmer (Toolroom) with strong experience in CAM software–based CNC programming. The candidate will be responsible for creating, proving, and executing VMC programs for precision toolroom components, jigs, fixtures, dies, and prototype parts.

Key Responsibilities

• Create VMC programs using CAM software (such as FreeCAD, Fusion 360, Mastercam, or similar).
• Generate and verify toolpaths, post-process programs, and ensure error-free machining.
• Perform machine setup, tool setting, and job proving independently.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and tolerances.
• Select suitable cutting tools, inserts, holders, and machining strategies.
• Optimize cycle time, feeds, speeds, and tool life.
• Handle toolroom jobs, prototypes, and small batch production.
• Ensure dimensional accuracy and surface finish as per drawing.
• Carry out first-piece inspection and in-process quality checks.
• Maintain machine, tools, and workplace following 5S and safety standards.
• Coordinate with design, quality, and production teams.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• ITI / Diploma / BE in Mechanical or relevant field.
• Minimum 2 years experience as a VMC Programmer using CAM software.
• Strong knowledge of:
• 3-Axis VMC machining
• CAM software programming and post-processing
• Cutting tools, tool holders, and machining parameters
• Measuring instruments (Vernier, Micrometer, Bore Gauge, Height Gauge, etc.)
• Experience machining materials such as:
• Mild Steel, Alloy Steel
• Stainless Steel
• Aluminium
• Tool Steel
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Skills (Added Advantage)

• Experience in jigs, fixtures, press tools, mould bases, and precision components.
• Knowledge of fixture planning and machining sequence.
• Experience handling tight tolerances and toolroom precision work.
