Vice President - Solution Architect

As a Vice President - Solution Architect at Barclays, you will be at the forefront of shaping the evolution of the Digital Platform Engineering function. Specializing in Mobile Development and Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), you will provide both hands-on technical leadership and strategic guidance to cross-functional engineering teams. Your responsibilities will include playing a crucial role in molding Barclays" mobile application portfolio (including React Native and native iOS/Android) and AEM platforms, ensuring the delivery of top-notch technology solutions and product experiences. This role will require close collaboration with senior stakeholders, product managers, designers, and other engineering leaders to foster innovation, drive performance, and facilitate long-term growth. Additionally, effective stakeholder management, leadership skills, and decision-making capabilities will be essential in supporting business strategy and risk management. To excel in this role, you should possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field. Your progressive experience in software engineering, particularly in delivering large-scale mobile applications and digital platforms, will be a key asset. Proficiency in React Native, native iOS (Swift/Objective-C), native Android (Java/Kotlin), and mobile CI/CD tools is crucial. Moreover, a deep understanding of Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and cloud services (AWS/Azure) will be beneficial. Demonstrable leadership skills, excellent communication, negotiation abilities, and stakeholder management skills are also necessary. Being able to translate complex technical concepts into clear insights for non-technical stakeholders is highly valued. Prior experience in financial services or regulated environments, as well as familiarity with compliance and security standards relevant to enterprise software deployments, will be advantageous. Working experience with large volumes of data in the financial services domain is a plus. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and enhancing software using various engineering methodologies to provide business, platform, and technology capabilities for customers and colleagues. Your accountabilities will include developing high-quality software solutions, collaborating with cross-functional teams to define software requirements, promoting a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing, staying updated on industry technology trends, ensuring secure coding practices, and implementing effective unit testing practices. As a Vice President, you are expected to contribute to setting strategy, driving requirements, making recommendations for change, planning resources, budgets, and policies, managing policies/processes, delivering continuous improvements, and escalating breaches of policies/procedures. You will advise key stakeholders, manage and mitigate risks, demonstrate leadership, and be accountable for managing risk and strengthening controls related to your team's work. You will also collaborate with other areas of work and create solutions based on sophisticated analytical thought.
