Vice President - Solution Architect

As a Vice President - Solution Architect at Barclays, you will be at the forefront of shaping the evolution of the Digital Platform Engineering function, specializing in Mobile Development and Adobe Experience Manager (AEM). Your role will involve providing both hands-on technical leadership and strategic guidance to cross-functional engineering teams. You will play a crucial role in molding Barclays" mobile application portfolio (including React Native and native iOS/Android) and AEM platforms, ensuring the delivery of top-notch technology solutions and product experiences. Collaboration with senior stakeholders, product managers, designers, and other engineering leaders will be essential to foster innovation, drive performance, and facilitate long-term growth. Effective stakeholder management, leadership skills, and decision-making capabilities will be crucial in supporting business strategy and risk management. **Key Responsibilities:** - Design, develop, and enhance software using various engineering methodologies to provide business, platform, and technology capabilities for customers and colleagues - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define software requirements and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing - Stay updated on industry technology trends, ensure secure coding practices, and implement effective unit testing practices **Qualifications Required:** - Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field - Progressive experience in software engineering, particularly in delivering large-scale mobile applications and digital platforms - Proficiency in React Native, native iOS (Swift/Objective-C), native Android (Java/Kotlin), and mobile CI/CD tools - Deep understanding of Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and cloud services (AWS/Azure) - Demonstrable leadership skills, excellent communication, negotiation abilities, and stakeholder management skills Prior experience in financial services or regulated environments, familiarity with compliance and security standards relevant to enterprise software deployments, and working experience with large volumes of data in the financial services domain will be advantageous. As a Vice President, you are expected to contribute to setting strategy, driving requirements, planning resources, budgets, and policies, managing policies/processes, delivering continuous improvements, and escalating breaches of policies/procedures. You will advise key stakeholders, manage and mitigate risks, demonstrate leadership, and be accountable for managing risk and strengthening controls related to your team's work.
