The Consultant Gastroenterologist will be responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing patients with gastrointestinal (GI) diseases. This role involves clinical evaluation, diagnostic procedures, therapeutic interventions, and patient care in both outpatient and inpatient settings. The Consultant will also collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, guide junior residents, and contribute to academic and research activities. Key Responsibilities: Diagnose and manage a wide range of gastrointestinal conditions such as: Acid reflux (GERD) Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) Hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, and other liver diseases Pancreatitis Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) Gastrointestinal cancers GI bleeding, liver diseases, and malabsorption disorders Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including: Endoscopy (upper and lower) Colonoscopy ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography) Liver biopsy Capsule endoscopy Collaborate with surgical teams for GI-related surgeries and interventions. Proficiency in performing and interpreting endoscopic procedures (gastroscopy, colonoscopy, ERCP, etc.). Ability to manage GI emergencies such as GI bleeding, acute pancreatitis, and severe IBD exacerbations. Strong knowledge in interpreting lab results, imaging studies (ultrasound, CT, MRI), and biopsy findings. Familiarity with advanced therapeutic interventions like stenting, variceal banding, and other endoscopic procedures. Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills to discuss complex diagnoses and treatment plans with patients and their families.
