Job Description

Position:

Primary Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  1. Develop and maintain domestic and international trade regulations.
  2. Oversee all aspects of trade compliance, including import and export processes, documentation, and record-keeping.
  3. Maintain up to date knowledge of export/import regulations (EAR, ITAR, EU Dual Use List, Singapore SGCO etc.)
  4. Ensure proper product classification (ECCN, HS code, SGCO categories)
  5. Ensure compliance with all applicable trade laws and regulations, including but not limited to export controls, sanctions, and customs regulations.
  6. Monitor changes in trade regulations and proactively implement necessary updates and changes to company policies and procedures.
  7. Coordinate with internal departments, such as sales, procurement, supply chain, shipping, and legal, to ensure proper trade compliance measures are in place.
  8. Provide training on trade compliance to internal stakeholders.
  9. Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify potential compliance issues and implement corrective actions.
  10. Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices in trade compliance.
  11. Regularly screen customers, vendors and end-users.
  12. Collaborate with external partners, such as customs brokers and government agencies, to ensure smooth and timely import and export transactions. Co-ordinate with internal supply chain and procurement teams.
  13. Communicate with relevant government agencies to obtain necessary import/export licenses and permits.
  14. Handle any trade compliance-related inquiries or issues from internal or external stakeholders.
  15. Collaborate with legal on contracts with end-users, incorporating compliance clauses.
  16. Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies and industry associations.
  17. Automate processes, screening, license checks and reporting.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Legal, Business Management or related Field required.
  • 3-7 years of experience working in trade compliance preferably in High Tech Industry
  • Experience in import and export classification activities with a focus on semiconductors, and electronics.
  • Experience working in SAP and global trade management tools preferable.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and make timely decisions.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally, as required.
