The Role: Backend Engineer

Backend Engineer

Youll collaborate with ML engineers, frontend developers, and designersturning prototypes into reliable, production-ready systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design & implement scalable APIs and service layers for AI/agent workflows
  
• Integrate ML models into backend infrastructure and orchestrate inference flows
  
• Build and optimize data access layers (databases, vector stores, external APIs)
  
• Define data contracts with frontend teams for seamless integration
  
• Develop infrastructure for orchestration, state tracking, and output management
  
• Contribute to DevOps (CI/CD pipelines, deployment, monitoring, logging)
  
• Support rapid prototyping and evolve MVPs into reusable assets
  
• Participate in roadmap planning and design discussions
  

Desired Qualifications

Experience

• 4.5+ years as a Backend Engineer
  

Core Skills

• Terraform

  : proficient in writing, testing, and managing modules

• Languages

  : Python (primary), plus Go/Node.js/Java (nice-to-have)

• API Development

  : REST, GraphQL, FastAPI/Flask, microservices

• Testing

  : Pytest, unit & integration best practices

• CI/CD

  : GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar

• Cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP)

  :
• Compute: Lambda, ECS/Fargate, EC2
  
• Storage: S3, EFS
  
• Networking: VPC, Route53, API Gateway
  
• Databases: PostgreSQL/MySQL (RDS), DynamoDB
  
• Monitoring: CloudWatch, X-Ray
  
• IAM policies/roles/permissions
  

Nice-to-Have

• Event-driven systems: SQS, Kafka
  
• ETL/Pipelines: Step Functions, Airflow (MWAA), Glue
  
• File formats: JSON, XML, CSV, Parquet
  

Tooling

• Git (GitHub/GitLab workflows)
  
• Secrets management: AWS Secrets Manager / SSM Parameter Store
  
• Dev tools: Docker Compose, Make, VS Code
