Critical Care Technologist Conceptualized in the year 2004 as a philanthropic initiative for the Eastern and North-Eastern parts of India and the neighbouring countries, the Tata Medical Center (TMC) started operations in Kolkata on May 16, 2011. The hospital is governed by a charitable trust Tata Medical Centre Trust. It is an integrated Oncology facility with well-trained professional staff and equipped with modern facilities and the most contemporary medical equipment. The hospital was designed by Cannon Design, a renowned architectural firm from North America. It is located on 13 acres of land at New Town in Kolkata, West Bengal. The Hospital, with a capacity of 437 beds, serves all sections of the society, with 75% of the infrastructure earmarked for subsidized treatment for the underprivileged sections. It provides a wide spectrum of services from diagnosis and therapy to rehabilitation and palliative support. The Institution s objective is to excel in service, education and research. In order to fulfill the above objectives, Tata Medical Center, Kolkata is seeking for a Critical Care
Minimum Qualification: Diploma in Critical Care Technology from State Medical Faculty of West Bengal or equivalent from a recognized university. Experience: A minimum of 1 year of experience in the relevant specialty will be an added advantage. Fresher may also apply. Brief Job Description:
Attending all critical care patients on a daily basis who are on organ support devices and
all critical care equipment s in a traceable manner and document that properly. Assisting
To address any acute issues related to ICU devices To report such malfunctions to the duty doctors, nursing in charge and Critical Care
consultants. Inspecting & checking of all biomedical equipments present in critical care units on a
regular basis (daily and after every usage)- e.g. function of monitors and electrodes of ECG leads
Ensuring that the Patient Ventilators are calibrated & ready to be used on the patients. Maintaining proper working of the durable accessories like, ECG, SPO2, NIPB, IBP,
Temperature, ETCO2 as well as the strip recording system. Conducting self-system check of all the defibrillators on a daily basis. Checking battery level of the defibrillator, monitors, ventilators, Pumps, Pulse Oximetry
etc & always charged through a main supply when not in use. Checking the illumination of LED, Bulbs in the laryngoscopes & checking the battery as
Connecting Cardiac Output Machine & follow up. Checking & Ready the HFNC machine & BiPAP and to connect with Patients. Maintaining USG / echo machine in ICU and coordinating with ICU consultants,
biomedical unit and company representatives. In case of any emergency, prompt arrangement of all the essential medical devices as
required Ensure Cleansing & Disinfecting of all biomedical equipments on a regular basis Transportation of all patients from Critical Care Unit to Operation theatre or elsewhere in
the hospital (i.e., radiology, endoscopy) along with doctors and back to the Critical Care Unit
Maintain an incident report regarding the malfunctioning of different biomedical equipments present in Critical Care Unit and report the same to Critical Care consultants.
To inform the biomedical department about the malfunctioning equipments and submit the same to the department for repair and mandatory follow up
Maintain the log book of daily check list of medical equipments located in different areas of Critical Care Unit
Should be familiar with routine procedures done in CCU and conversant in handling equipments used in Critical Care set up
Proper Handling & maintenance of equipments (both sterile & non-sterile) before giving and after taking from CSSD Department; Sterilization of reusable instruments / disposable components (e.g. patient s circuits of ventilators, fibreoptic bronschoscope, bougie etc)
To ensure continuous & regular availability of consumable items related to biomedical equipments (e.g. paper packs are sufficiently present in the ECG machine, ABG analyser, Defibrillators)
Manage preliminary troubleshooting of medical equipments in emergency situations Required to attend all patients elsewhere in hospital in case of emergency as and when
required (i.e., ER department, Wards) In case of road evacuation-will have to accompany with the team while transferring
