Job Description

Conceptualized in the year 2004 as a philanthropic initiative for the Eastern and North-Eastern parts of India and the neighboring countries, the Tata Medical Center (TMC) started operations in Kolkata on May 16, 2011. The hospital is governed by a charitable trust Tata Medical Centre Trust. It is an integrated Oncology facility with well-trained professional staff and equipped with modern facilities and the most contemporary medical equipment. Set up at a cost of Rs. 350 crores, the Hospital, with a capacity of 183 beds, serves all sections of the society, with 50% of the infrastructure earmarked for free or subsidized treatment for the underprivileged sections. Tata Medical Center is currently in an expansion mode with another 250 beds being added to the current bed strength. The hospital provides a wide spectrum of services from diagnosis, therapy to rehabilitation and palliative support in cancer. The Institutions objective is to excel in service, education and research.
The mission of the department of anesthesiology, critical care and pain medicine in the hospital is to provide state-of-the art anesthesia services, pain management, life-support for cancer patients in intensive care. The department provides comprehensive anesthesia care right from preoperative evaluation in the pre-anesthesia clinic, surgery in the operating room and postoperative care in the post anesthesia care unit/HDU/ intensive care. Acute pain services (in the hospital) and pain management (for both acute and chronic cancer related pain) is also provided on both as out- patient as well as in-patient basis. The Department conducts regular academic sessions including Journal clubs, seminars and case presentations. The Department has recently started Fellowship program in Critical Care medicine of College of Critical Care Medicine and plans to start DNB and IDCCM programmes very soon. Regular state-level workshops and CMEs are organised in association with ISA(WB) and ISCCM(WB). Point of care ultrasound is routinely used for vascular access and nerve blocks for interventional pain management. We have a 5 bedded Level1 ITU, 6 bedded surgical ICU and a 5 bedded HDU/step down which provides state-of-the art cardio- respiratory care, advanced intensive physiological monitoring, renal support to immunocompromised patients after chemotherapy and bone marrow transplant.

Duration of the Fellowship is for 2 years, extendable upto 1 more year depending on the individual s performance and management s discretion.
The remuneration will be commensurate with years of experience. Mediclaim benefits (self only) for hospitalization purpose not exceeding Rs. 1 lakh.
