Job Description

The Technician / Operator in an Additive Manufacturing company is responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting 3D printing equipment. The role includes preparing print jobs, monitoring the printing process, conducting post-processing (such as buffing, finishing, and polishing), and ensuring high-quality production of components.

Roles Responsibility

Machine Operation Setup: Operate various 3D printing technologies (MJF, SLA, FDM, DMLS, etc.), Prepare and load raw materials (filaments, resins, powders, or metals) and Configure and calibrate machine settings based on print specifications.
Print Job Preparation Execution: Process CAD files and use slicing software (Cura, PrusaSlicer, Fusion 360, etc.), Ensure proper orientation and support structures for optimal printing, and Monitor print jobs for quality control and detect any defects.
Maintenance Troubleshooting: Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and calibration of 3D printers and Follow safety protocols when handling materials and equipment.
Post-Processing Finishing: Support Removal: Carefully remove supports without damaging the part. Cleaning: Use chemical baths, ultrasonic cleaners, or compressed air to remove excess material. Buffing Sanding: Smooth rough surfaces using sandpaper, grinders, or buffing tools. Polishing: Apply polishing compounds, vapor smoothing, or mechanical polishing techniques for a refined finish.
Painting Coating: Apply paints, coatings, or protective layers to enhance durability and aesthetics.
Assembly Fitment: If applicable, assemble multi-part components and ensure proper alignment.
Quality Control Documentation: Inspect printed parts for dimensional accuracy and surface quality. Provide feedback on printing efficiency and material consumption.

Qualifications:

Experience with hand tools, polishing equipment, and surface finishing techniques.

Understanding of mechanical properties and part tolerances.
