Linux Platform Network Engineer - Expert Level

Job Title / Designation: Technical Lead, Embedded Engineering Services (EES)

Experience Range: 10+ Years

Summary:

We are hiring a Linux Platform Network expert engineer to own the Linux kernel, BSP, and Yocto platform for a next-generation industrial Gigabit Ethernet switch used in railway and rolling-stock applications.

This role leads board bring-up, Marvell switch SDK integration, L2/L3 networking, TSN/PTP, PoE, manufacturing utilities, and railway certification support. The ideal candidate is a hands-on Linux kernel and embedded networking expert with experience building rugged, high-availability Ethernet platforms.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Able to execute & technically lead multiple modules/project at a same time
• Lead a team of 5-8 engineers.
• Own Linux kernel, BSP, and U-Boot for industrial Ethernet switch platforms
• Lead board bring-up: device tree, pinmux, clocks, power/reset sequencing
• Integrate Marvell SDK and optimize network drivers
• Drive PHY & SERDES bring-up, tuning, and debugging
• Implement and integrate L2/L3 networking protocols including:
• PROFINET CC-C, TCNOpen, ERPS
• PTP (IEEE 1588) and TSN
• Architect and maintain Yocto BSPs, custom images, SDKs, and release pipelines
• Develop low-level Linux drivers (I2C, SPI, UART, GPIO, PCIe, Ethernet, PoE)
• Enable manufacturing utilities: MAC flashing, factory bring-up tools
• Lead throughput, performance, and PoE testing
• Support railway EN standards (EN50155, EN50121-4, EN61131-2) and SL-3 security validation
• Collaborate closely with hardware, manufacturing, and silicon vendors
• Customer Front facing , Customer Communication, Customer value addition
• Continuous development of team to serve customer requirements in faster & efficient way
• Fit for onsite Assignments

Technical Skills:

MUST have:

• Linux Kernel & BSP expert (device tree, pinmux, driver development)
• Strong experience with Marvell Ethernet switch SoCs / SDKs
• Yocto Project expert (meta-layers, recipes, distro config, SDKs)
• Security: Netfilter, NAT, firewall, RADIUS, secure boot
• Industrial Ethernet switching & L2/L3 protocol integration
• PHY / SERDES bring-up and tuning
• Debugging using JTAG, crash dumps, ftrace, perf
• PoE (af/at/bt) integration and testing
• Manufacturing tools (MAC flashing, factory utilities)
• Solid understanding of schematics and hardware datasheets
• Nice to have:
• Railway or rugged industrial product experience
• CI/CD with GitLab or Jenkins
• OTA / A-B update strategies
