Job Description

The AWS CloudOps Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing cloud infrastructure and operations on Amazon Web Services (AWS). This role ensures high availability, scalability, security, and cost-efficiency of cloud environments while enabling automation and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in AWS services, DevOps practices, and cloud governance.

We are seeking a seasoned AWS CloudOps Architect to lead the design, implementation, and operational excellence of our cloud infrastructure. In this role, you will bridge the gap between high-level architecture and hands-on operational management. You will be responsible for ensuring that our cloud platforms are not only highly available and scalable but also cost-optimized and secure.

The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of the AWS Well-Architected Framework and brings a developer-centric mindset to operations, utilizing Java and Python to automate complex workflows and enhance system reliability.

Role & responsibilities:

  • Architectural Leadership

  • Design and implement secure, scalable, and resilient AWS cloud architectures.
  • Define best practices for cloud infrastructure, networking, and application deployment.
  • Develop multi-account strategies using AWS Organizations and Control Tower.
  • Operational Excellence

  • Manage day-to-day cloud operations, including monitoring, incident response, and performance tuning.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
  • Automate operational tasks using AWS Lambda, Systems Manager, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Security & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with security standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Implement IAM policies, encryption, and network security best practices.
  • Conduct regular audits and vulnerability assessments.
  • Cost Optimization

  • Monitor and optimize AWS resource utilization and costs.
  • Implement tagging strategies and cost allocation reports.
  • Collaboration & Governance

  • Work closely with development, security, and operations teams to align cloud strategies.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.

Mandatory Skills

  • Hands-On Experience

  • 5+ years in IT infrastructure or cloud operations.
  • 3+ years of hands-on AWS architecture and operations experience.
  • Experience in large-scale enterprise environments.
  • Technical Competencies

  • Compute & Containers:

    Extensive experience with EKS (Kubernetes), Docker, EKS, EC2, ECS, and Lambda (Serverless).
  • Messaging & Streaming:

    Hands-on expertise with SQS, SNS, and MSK (Managed Streaming for Kafka).
  • Databases & Storage:

    Deep knowledge of RDS, DynamoDB, and S3 lifecycle management.
  • Programming:

    Strong proficiency in Java and Python for automation, custom tooling, and script development.
  • Infrastructure as Code:

    Proven experience with Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
  • Networking:

    Deep understanding of AWS global infrastructure, including Regions, Availability Zones (AZs), Edge locations, Route 53, and CloudFront.
  • Observability:

    Proficiency with tools such as AWS CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and third-party APM/logging solutions (e.g., ELK, Datadog, Prometheus).
  • CI/CD tools:

    Jenkins, GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline.
  • Operational Skills

  • Experience in monitoring, logging, and alerting using AWS native tools and third-party solutions.
  • Strong troubleshooting and performance optimization skills.
  • Technical Certifications

  • AWS Certified CloudOps Engineer Professional
  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional

Nice-to-have Skills

  • AI/ML Integration:

    Exposure to AWS AI/ML services such as Amazon SageMaker, Bedrock, Rekognition, or Comprehend.
  • Advanced Networking:

    Experience with Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, and complex VPC peering architectures.
  • Disaster Recovery:

    Proven track record of designing and testing multi-region DR strategies.
