Tech Lead / Head of Engineering (Capital Markets & Broking Systems)

Location: Bengaluru Office Only (No Remote / No Hybrid)

Reporting To: Board of Directors

Experience: 8-15 years (with proven leadership of engineering teams)

Role Overview

We are seeking a senior, hands-on Tech Lead to own and drive the complete technology function of a SEBI-regulated stock broking and capital markets firm. This role reports directly to the Board of Directors and carries end-to-end responsibility for delivery, scalability, security, and regulatory readiness of all technology platforms.

The role demands strong execution discipline, ability to build and scale teams, and a track record of meeting hard deadlines for business-critical deliverables.

Key Responsibilities:

Board-Level Ownership & Delivery

Act as the single point of accountability for all technology deliverables

Present progress, risks, and timelines directly to the Board of Directors

Define and commit to clear delivery milestones and ensure on-time execution

Drive expansion of the engineering team aligned with business growth

Enforce engineering discipline, documentation, and delivery standards

Capital Markets & Broking Systems

Design, build, and maintain systems related to:

Client onboarding & KYC workflows

Trading platforms & integrations (NSE/BSE/MCX APIs)

Risk management, margin systems, RMS controls

Back-office, reporting, and compliance workflows

Ensure high availability, low latency, and fault tolerance

Work closely with compliance, operations, and risk teams

Backend Engineering (Python / Django)

Architect and develop scalable backend systems using Python & Django / DRF

Design secure APIs with strong authentication, authorization, and audit trails

Optimize databases (PostgreSQL / MySQL) for high-volume transactional data

Implement background processing, queues, and asynchronous workflows

Frontend & Mobile Platforms

Lead development of internal and external applications using:

React for web platforms (client, dealer, admin)

Flutter for mobile applications

Ensure performance, security, and regulatory compliance across platforms

Own release cycles and production readiness

DevOps, Infrastructure & Reliability

Own infrastructure, deployment, and uptime

Design and manage CI/CD pipelines

Deploy and maintain systems on cloud infrastructure (AWS / GCP / Azure)

Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and incident response

Ensure backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity readiness

Security, Audit & Regulatory Readiness

Implement strong security practices aligned with SEBI, exchange, and audit requirements

Ensure

Data encryption and access controls

Audit logs and traceability

Secure credential and secrets management

Support internal and external audits with clear documentation

Team Leadership & Expansion

Build, lead, and scale a high-performance engineering team

Set expectations, enforce accountability, and mentor team members

Conduct code reviews and architectural reviews

Ensure delivery commitments are met without slippage

Mandatory Requirements

Strong hands-on experience with Python & Django

Experience building and scaling production-grade systems

Strong DevOps and cloud infrastructure expertise

Experience leading teams and delivering large systems on schedule

Comfort reporting to senior leadership / Board level

Willingness to work 100% from office (Bengaluru)

Preferred Experience

Prior experience in Stock Broking / Capital Markets / FinTech

Familiarity with exchange APIs, RMS systems, margin rules

Experience in regulated environments with audit and compliance exposure

Knowledge of microservices and high-availability architectures
