Key Responsibilities

• System Health Monitoring:

  Continuously monitor critical system performance metrics, including CPU utilization, memory usage, disk space consumption, and network traffic, using monitoring tools to ensure the system operates within normal thresholds.

• Proactive Issue Identification:

  Analyze system logs and performance trends to identify potential bottlenecks, system degradation, or hardware issues before they impact end-users or transaction processing.

• Incident Management and Troubleshooting:

  Diagnose and respond to alerts and incidents related to infrastructure or application failures. This includes troubleshooting hardware/software malfunctions, isolating root causes, and implementing fixes or workarounds.

• Alert Configuration and Management:

  Configure and fine-tune monitoring tools and alarms to ensure relevant personnel are notified of threshold breaches (e.g., disk usage over 80%, sustained high CPU utilization).

• Performance Optimization:

  Assist in performance tuning activities, such as managing buffer pools, optimizing database indexes, and adjusting system parameters, to maintain optimal system performance as transaction volumes grow.

• Documentation and Reporting:

  Prepare and maintain detailed operational procedures, system logs, and incident reports. Create operational reports and dashboards to be shared with stakeholders.

• Capacity Planning:

  Monitor resource utilization trends to assist in capacity planning, ensuring that new hardware and software can be acquired at the right time to meet future demands.

• Collaboration:

  Liaise and collaborate with internal teams (e.g., developers, QA, business analysts) and external vendors to resolve complex issues and support application deployments and system upgrades.

• Support and Maintenance:

  Perform routine maintenance tasks, system backups, and assist with software installations and configuration changes.
