(approximately 40% of the time).This role will report to International Tax Manager based in India and is responsible for supporting the company's U.S. indirect tax compliance, research, and audit activities and U.S. and APAC income tax matters. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across finance, accounting, procurement, and business operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual sales & use tax returns for multiple jurisdictions.
- Reconcile tax general ledger accounts and ensure accurate recording of tax liabilities.
- Process payments and maintain documentation to support tax filings.
- Assist with property tax, business license, or gross receipts tax filings as applicable.
- Research and analyze product and service taxability for new or existing products across states.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory changes impacting indirect tax compliance.
- Assist in documenting tax positions and maintaining tax matrices.
- Manage and support indirect tax notices and audits, including gathering documentation, explaining tax positions, and responding to auditor information requests.
- Maintain and validate exemption certificates, reseller certificates, and direct pay permits.
- Support internal and external stakeholders on tax invoice questions or taxability inquiries.
- Work with ERP and tax engine systems (e.g., Vertex) to ensure proper tax configuration.
- Assist in testing tax rate and product mapping updates.
- Prepare quarterly and annual income tax provision and tax account reconciliations under US GAAP reporting and local statutory reporting rules for entities in APAC Region.
- Ensure proper documentation for tax technical, tax accounting and tax controls.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual income tax payments and returns for entities in APAC Region.
- Establish effective tax control processes; drive a culture of continuous improvement around tax process, tax reporting/compliance, documentation, and tax controls.
- Support and leverage technology, processes, and systems to improve tax compliance & reporting.
- Ad hoc projects as needed.
Qualifications
- Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field required.
- 3 years of Direct Tax & Indirect tax Compliance and Reporting, sales & use tax, or general tax experience preferred.
- Experience in a corporate tax department or public accounting firm is a plus.
- Working knowledge of U.S. state and local sales and use tax laws and rules is a plus.
- Strong communication and analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in Excel and comfortable working with large data sets. Alteryx Designer experience is a plus.
- Experience with tax determination software (i.e., Vertex) preferred.
- Ability to communicate tax concepts clearly and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- NetSuite ERP system experience is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Process-oriented and proactive in identifying improvements.
