Location Hybrid Model, Chennai (3 days in HCL ELCOT Chennai Office & 2 days WFH).

About the Role
We are looking for a Tableau Developer who can design and maintain Tableau Dashboards and visual analytic solution. The ideal candidate should have strong technical expertise in Tableau, an analytical mindset and the ability to translate business needs into clear and meaningful insights.
This role will work closely with cross-functional teams including PMO, Engineering, Product and Senior Leadership to support decision making and performance monitoring.
Key responsibilities
- Dashboard & Report Development
- Design, build and publish interactive tableau dashboards, workbooks and visualizations.
- Implement advanced tableau features including parameters, LOD Expressions, Actions, Sets, Containers, Hierarchies, etc.
- Optimize Dashboards for performance, usability and mobile compatibility.
- Ensure dashboards adhere to visualization best practices and UI/UX Standards.
- Data preparation & Modelling
- Connect to multiple data sources (SQL, Excel, Cloud DBs, APIs, Data Lakes, etc)
- Perform data cleaning, transformation, and blending from various systems.
- Build efficient data models to support scalable dashboard development.
- Collaborate with Data Engineering teams to improve data pipelines and structures.
- Business requirements & stakeholder collaborations
- Work closely with business owners to gather requirements and convert them into analytical solutions
- Translate ambiguous business questions into structured dashboard and KPIs.
- Support PMO and leadership with ad-hoc data analysis, KPI reporting and performance insights.
- Communicate insights clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Quality, documentation & Governance
- Conduct unit testing and validation of Dashboards.
- Maintain version control, documentation and dashboard governance standards.
- Ensure data accuracy, security and compliance with organizational guidelines.
- Continuous improvement
- Identify opportunities to automate reports and streamline manual process.
- Explore and implement best practices in data visualization and BI analytics.
- Stay updated on new tableau features, extensions and analytical capabilities.
Required skills & Qualifications
Technical Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with Tableau desktop and Tableau Server.
- Expertise in LOD (Level of detail) expressions, Table calculations, Parameters, Actions, Sets and Data blending.
- Solid SQL skills (Joins, aggregations, subqueries, performance tuning).
- Experience connecting to multiple data sources (Excel, SQL Server, Oracle, Snowflake, JIRA, etc).
- Understanding of data modelling concepts, star schema and ETL workflows.
Analytical & Business Skills
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data trends and patterns.
- Experience working with KPIs, Performance dashboards and management reporting.
- Ability to translate business requirements into impactful visual insights.
- Good communications and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum or PMO environments.
- Knowledge of other BI Tools (Power BI, Qlik, etc) is a plus.
- Tableau certification (Desktop Specialist/Certified Associate) is a plus.
