Job Description

Key Responsibilities: Model Development : Develop and maintain high-fidelity models of engine, vehicle, and hybrid electric vehicle systems using MATLAB Simulink to simulate and analyze the performance and behavior of various subsystems. Simulation & Analysis : Conduct simulations to evaluate engine, vehicle, and hybrid electric vehicle system performance, identify potential issues, and propose improvements. Integration & Testing : Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate simulation models with hardware and software components, supporting system testing and validation activities. Data Analysis : Analyze simulation results, interpret data, and generate comprehensive reports to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders. Problem-Solving & Issue Resolution : Investigate product issues, understand causal mechanisms, recommend solutions, and drive problem resolution for moderately complex components, systems, and subsystems. Documentation : Develop and maintain detailed documentation for simulation models, processes, and procedures to ensure alignment across project teams and stakeholders. Continuous Improvement : Stay updated on advancements in engine, vehicle, and hybrid electric vehicle systems and simulation technologies, enhancing models and methodologies accordingly. Cross-Functional Collaboration : Work closely with technical managers, project leaders, engineers, and supplier partners to gather input and support decision-making for quality product outcomes. Skills and Knowledge: MATLAB Simulink : Advanced proficiency in MATLAB Simulink for developing and analyzing controls, engine, vehicle, and hybrid electric vehicle system models. Automotive Controls : Strong understanding of AutoSAR fundamentals, control unit testing, and simulation of control systems in Simulink. Engine & Vehicle Systems : Deep knowledge of engine dynamics, vehicle dynamics, powertrain, electrical systems, aftertreatment, and other automotive subsystems. Hybrid Electric Vehicle Systems : Experience with HEV controls, including battery management systems, electric motors, and regenerative braking systems. Simulation Tools : Familiarity with additional tools such as GT, AVL Boost, Stateflow, or equivalents. Data Analysis : Proficiency in data analysis techniques and tools, including statistical methods for technical data evaluation. Problem-Solving : Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to approach complex problems creatively. Communication : Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences. Collaboration : Proven ability to work effectively in team environments, with experience managing cross-functional projects. Experience : 6-8 years of experience in engine and vehicle system simulation and modeling, with a strong focus on MATLAB Simulink. Experience with model-based design and control system development. Knowledge of automotive industry standards and regulations. Familiarity with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and software-in-the-loop (SIL) testing. Experience with hybrid electric vehicle controls simulation. Qualifications: Education : Bachelors or Master s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field. Licensing : This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations. Competencies: Cross-Functional Design Integration : Ability to translate requirements into virtual designs, clearly communicating the design capability across functions. Product Failure Mode Avoidance : Proactively identifies potential failure modes and mitigates risks to improve product reliability. Product Function Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis : Utilizes computational tools and methods to predict product capabilities and system performance. Product Problem Solving : Solves complex product issues using a structured, data-driven approach to root cause analysis and solution implementation. Product Verification and Validation : Manages the development of validation plans and assesses results from analytical, simulation, and physical tests. System Requirements Engineering : Translates stakeholder needs into verifiable system requirements, tracking the impact of changes throughout the system lifecycle. Systems Thinking : Defines and analyzes system boundaries, interactions, and behaviors to predict outcomes and devise system modifications. Collaborative Skills : Builds partnerships across functions and teams to meet shared objectives. Effective Communication : Develops clear communications tailored to diverse stakeholders, ensuring a common understanding of complex concepts. Decision Quality : Makes informed, timely decisions to drive projects forward. Results-Driven : Consistently delivers high-quality results, even in challenging circumstances.
