Systems & Calibration Engineer

The Systems & Calibration Engineer plays a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining laboratory instrumentation and automated systems. This position ensures compliance with regulatory standards, supports calibration and validation processes, and drives continuous improvement across laboratory operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design and develop laboratory instrumentation, automated test systems, and fixtures to support testing and infrastructure upgrades.
2. Install, test, and validate new or modified systems to ensure compliance with quality and user requirements.
3. Operate and maintain designated laboratory equipment and respond to repair or modification requests.
4. Develop and execute calibration schedules and procedures in line with ISO/IEC 17025 and other standards.
5. Issue internal calibration certificates and verify external calibration documentation for accuracy and compliance.
6. Ensure all systems meet safety requirements and local regulatory standards.
7. Prepare technical documentation including manuals, calibration procedures, and test method validations.
8. Train and advise users on the operation and maintenance of lab instrumentation and systems.
9. Collaborate with engineering teams to validate existing methods and develop new test methodologies.
10. Identify and implement automation opportunities to enhance testing efficiency and resolve complex issues.
11. Contribute to annual budget planning and capital expenditure forecasting for lab equipment.
12. Work with global teams to ensure consistency, scalability, and operational efficiency across laboratory infrastructure.

Qualifications

1. Bachelors degree or diploma in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Physics, or a related discipline.
2. Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience in calibration engineering, instrumentation development, and lab automation.
3. Strong understanding of measurement uncertainty, calibration principles, and regulatory compliance (e.g., ISO/IEC 17025, ANSI/NIST).
4. Proven experience with laboratory test equipment and conformity assessment standards.
5. Familiarity with Lean/Six Sigma methodologies and continuous improvement practices.
6. Ability to read and interpret technical documents, calibration certificates, and procedure manuals.
7. Strong communication skills with the ability to train and support cross-functional teams.
8. Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing priorities and lead technical initiatives in a global environment.
