System Software Engineer

As a System Software Engineer for Golang compiler, tooling, and ecosystem at Canonical, you will be part of a new team dedicated to enhancing the Golang programming language and its ecosystem on Ubuntu. Your main responsibilities will include: - Collaborating proactively with a distributed team - Selecting, integrating, and packaging best-of-breed tooling with Ubuntu to enhance developer and operator experience with Go - Writing high-quality code to introduce new features - Debugging issues and producing high-quality code to address them - Reviewing code created by other engineers - Discussing ideas and working collaboratively to find effective solutions To qualify for this role, we are looking for individuals who possess the following qualifications: - Relevant experience with Go, particularly in the realm of cloud-native software and Linux - Experience in packaging software for Debian and Ubuntu - Extensive background as a Linux user - Exceptional academic track record from both high school and university - Undergraduate degree in a technical subject or a compelling narrative about your alternative chosen path In addition to the qualifications, we value candidates who are passionate, curious, flexible, articulate, accountable, and possess strong soft skills.
