System Integration Lead

Unit and team Overview

Infotainment platforms unit is responsible for developing, maintaining and deploying BMW infotainment platform. BMW infotainment platform is Linux (Yocto) based SW platform that provides common automotive functions used by multiple automotive ECUs. The unit is also responsible for cross-cutting concerns of the platform, like architecture, security, stability and performance. The platform is deployed into multiple infotainment domain ECUs, ranging from headunits and rear seat entertainment systems to telematics and audio ECUs.

To strengthen our team of system integration leads, we are looking for a system integration lead.

As an system integration lead you would be working as an individual contributor in an ECU project. You would be supported by technical integrators and system integration testing team to manage the overall system integration process of an ECU project.

• You actively drive the integration process for software components in the ECU project ensuring both: delivery in time and in quality.
• You collaborate closely with developers, project managers, domain project leads and other stakeholders to deliver the overall ECU software package(s) aligned to the projects software/system integration plan.
• You plan, organize and coordinate integration requests of various domains and thus orchestrate a team of integrators.
• You collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware, software, testing, and quality assurance, to ensure successful software and system integration.
• You actively manage your suppliers.
• As part of our project team and with the big picture in mind, you closely interact and plan tasks with - and - for your suppliers.
• Furthermore, you lead the software and system integration planning - including the development of integration plans, schedules and resource allocation according to the project requirements and schedules.
• You troubleshoot complex integration issues and provide technical guidance to resolve them.

Qualifications

Basic requirements and Education

• Business fluent English
• University degree in Computer Science or a comparable field of study.

Required Experience and Skills

• Several years of professional experience in embedded software integration in the automotive industry, preferably around infotainment systems.
• Ability of breaking down complex problems. Systematic however pragmatic approach to problem solving.
• Profound knowledge of software integration methods, tools, and processes, including software versioning, software releasing and continuous integration.
• Experience in leading integration teams, as well as excellent communication/teamwork skills and experience with embedded development tools and environments.
• Strong technical background in software development, system architecture, or embedded systems.
• Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
