We are a team of sustainability and development professionals that form the Sustainability & CSR Department at the Bank and are responsible for ideating and driving the Bank's ESG vision and action plan, end-to-end management of the Bank's CSR and managing all aspects of ESG reporting and communications.

We work very closely with key internal stakeholders to explore and drive diverse ESG-aligned commitments and initiatives across the Bank.

We are looking for a motivated and experienced sustainability/ESG professional to LEAD the triple bottom line accounting and reporting vertical of the Department, while actively supporting the overall ESG agenda.

The candidate must have strong prior experience in preparing corporate sustainability reports as per GRI, Integrated Reporting or other global frameworks, and responding to ESG platforms such as DJSI, FTSE4Good Index, MSCI ESG Ratings, among others.

The role is based out of Axis Bank's head office in Worli, Mumbai and follows a 5-day work week. The Bank currently follows a hybrid model wherein employees work from home for 3 of the 5 days.

The candidate's key responsibilities would include:

  • Preparation of the Bank's annual sustainability report using GRI and frameworks with external assurance
  • Preparation of the annual Business Responsibility and Sustainability Report (BRSR) and other ESG-related disclosures in in the Bank's annual report
  • Responding to ESG ratings and assessment platforms - DJSI, FTSE4Good Index, MSCI ESG Ratings, and others
  • Responding to ESG-linked queries, questionnaires or communications from investors, regulators and others
  • Supporting the management of the ESG Committee of the Board
  • Liaising and engaging with internal departments and Bank's subsidiaries to drive ESG initiatives

In addition, the candidate would be expected to work on initiatives that may include:

  • Strengthening internal ESG-aligned policies, systems and processes
  • Taking forward initiatives with positive ESG impacts
  • Writing on ESG topics for external media and thought leadership platforms
  • Supporting the Head of Department and Bank's Senior Management on ESG policy advocacy or thought leadership

The candidate must demonstrate a good conceptual understanding of the ESG domain, be capable of working independently and demonstrating ability to take up end-to-end ownership of their responsibilities, and confidently engage with internal and external stakeholders.

Minimum Educational Requirements

Candidate should have a Masters from a reputed Indian or international institution. Trainings and certifications in relevant ESG topics shall be a plus.

Candidates without a Masters degree but with very strong relevant work experience shall be considered.

Minimum Work experience

Candidate should have relevant work experience in corporate sustainability domain or in sustainability consulting.

Domain Experience Required

  • Demonstrable experience in sustainability reporting, strong knowledge of GRI and Integrated Reporting frameworks
  • Experience in responding to DJSI, FTSE4Good Index, MSCI ESG Ratings, among others
  • Good research capabilities
  • Ability to write on ESG topics and issues
  • Knowledge of TCFD shall be a strong plus
  • Calculating environment-related data such as GHG emissions shall be a strong plus

Personal Skills Required

  • Candidate must demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills, exude a positive attitude and be willing to apply their minds
  • They must be able to manage their time very well and be able to work independently
  • They must be able to multi-task efficiently and manage multiple stakeholders
