Job Description

Key Responsibilities

1. Survey Operations Management

  • Lead and supervise survey teams across all mining sites.
  • Plan, schedule, and allocate survey work to meet operational requirements.
  • Ensure the accuracy of pit layouts, haul roads, dump yards, and stockpile measurements.
  • Conduct volumetric surveys for production reporting and contract billing.

2. Statutory Compliance

  • Ensure all survey works comply with the

    Mines Act

    ,

    DGMS guidelines

    , and other statutory regulations.
  • Prepare and submit statutory plans such as surface plans, underground plans, and annual returns to the

    DGMS

    and other authorities.
  • Maintain up-to-date mine plans, boundary pillars, and lease maps as per

    MMDR Act

    .

3. Technical Expertise

  • Utilize advanced surveying instruments like

    Total Stations, DGPS, Drone Surveys, and 3D Laser Scanners

    .
  • Generate digital terrain models (DTM) and 3D mine plans for planning and monitoring.
  • Ensure accurate topographical surveys for mine planning, expansion, and reclamation projects.

4. Coordination & Reporting

  • Work closely with the Mine Planning, Geology, and Production departments.
  • Prepare survey reports, volume calculations, and deviation analyses for management review.
  • Advise the management on land acquisition, lease boundaries, and encroachment issues.

5. Team & Resource Management

  • Recruit, train, and mentor surveyors and assistants.
  • Implement best practices in survey data management and storage.
  • Monitor and control survey equipment usage and maintenance.

Qualifications & Skills Required

  • Education:

    Diploma / Degree in Mining Survey / Civil Engineering or equivalent, with

    Mine Surveyors Certificate of Competency (DGMS)

    Metal or Coal.
  • Experience:

    Minimum

    15–25 years

    in mine surveying, with at least

    5 years in a senior management role

    .
  • Strong knowledge of

    Mines Act, DGMS regulations, and statutory mine plans

    .
  • Proficiency in survey software (AutoCAD, Surpac, Mine Planning software, GIS tools).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience in managing multi-location survey teams and large-scale mining operations.

  • Accuracy of survey data and plans.
  • Timely submission of statutory reports.
  • Reduction in survey-related operational delays.
  • Implementation of advanced survey technologies.
  • Compliance with DGMS and other legal requirements.
