Overview

We are seeking an experienced and detail-driven Surveyor to support our water infrastructure construction projects. The Surveyor will play a critical role in the planning, layout, and verification of works related to pipelines, reservoirs, water treatment facilities, pumping stations, and associated civil structures. This role ensures that all construction activities meet design requirements, regulatory standards, and precise geospatial measurements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct topographic, boundary, and construction layout surveys for water-related structures, pipelines, channels, and plant facilities.
  • Establish, verify, and maintain horizontal and vertical control networks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Perform survey set-out for pipeline routes, manholes, chambers, inlet/outlet structures, reservoirs, and mechanical/electrical equipment foundations.
  • Monitor pipeline alignment, grades, and trench depth to ensure compliance with approved drawings.
  • Provide as-built surveys, including accurate data collection for underground utilities, pipe invert levels, and installed components.
  • Integrate survey data with design and engineering models (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS, or BIM platforms).
  • Collaborate with engineers, construction managers, QA/QC teams, and subcontractors to resolve discrepancies and maintain project accuracy.
  • Conduct hydrographic or bathymetric surveys when required for reservoirs, canals, or intake structures.
  • Maintain and calibrate surveying equipment, including GPS, total stations, and laser levels.
  • Prepare and submit survey reports, digital files, field sketches, and documentation according to project standards.
  • Ensure all survey activities adhere to safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements specific to water projects.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelors degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Surveyor on

    water infrastructure projects

(pipelines, water treatment plants, pump stations, reservoirs, or similar).
  • Proficiency with surveying instruments (Total Station, GNSS/GPS, Level, Laser Scanner).
  • Strong knowledge of civil water systems, pipeline alignments, and hydraulic structures.
  • Competence with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and survey processing software.

    Preferred Skills

  • Experience with GIS systems for water network mapping.
  • Familiarity with as-built documentation for water authorities or utilities.
  • Knowledge of drone surveying, LiDAR, or hydrographic methods.
  • Professional certification (RICS, NSPS, or local equivalent).

Working Conditions

  • Primarily fieldwork on active water project construction sites, with office time for analysis and reporting.
  • Requires working in varied weather and terrain conditions (pipeline corridors, treatment plant sites, reservoir areas).
